Rotors of the Rockies
21,000 flight hours and counting.
Experience matters.
Rotors of the Rockies, Inc. began operations in 2001 with one helicopter and one pilot. Today, we maintain a fleet of six helicopters and an airplane, employ twelve certified flight instructors, and have a hundred active students. Every other flight school in Colorado has a chief pilot or an owner that trained at Rotors.
Mike Fyola is Rotor's Chief Pilot. He and his wife Regina
own Rotors of the Rockies. They have been married for 19 years, and have
three children.
Mike is a 10-year veteran of the Denver and Jefferson County Sheriff's Offices, and a recently retired National Guard Chief Warrant Officer and combat veteran, who spent five years training with the ARNG High Altitude Training facility in Eagle. Mike has logged more than 6000 helicopter flight hours; he has flown medical evacuation and search and rescue flights, dozens of photographers and film crews, hundreds of sightseers, former Colorado governor Bill Owens, Congressmen, and NASCAR drivers. Mike and Rotors of the Rockies have appeared locally on Channels 7 and 9, and were featured on the History Channel in 2004.
Rotors offers flight training on a variety of levels, from
private pilot to certified flight instructor, and the full range of instrument
training. The majority of our flight training is done in Schweizer 300C
helicopters, the safest, most reliable piston helicopter of record. Schweizers
are uniquely suited to Colorado’s high altitude, and like all Schweizer
products, have no special FAA safety restrictions.
All our helicopter maintenance is preformed by a licensed independent company.
We follow a strict maintenance schedule, and we have an open-book maintenance
policy.
Since opening our doors in 2001, Rotors has logged more than 21,000 flight
hours, and helped students obtain over 400 helicopter ratings. Customers
have taken pictures, made films, proposed to sweethearts, viewed property,
and dropped golf balls from our helicopters.
Rotors is the training center for the Nebraska State Patrol Air Unit and
the City of Omaha Police Department. We have trained pilots for the Albuquerque
PD, San Juan County (NM) Sheriff’s Department, Boulder County Drug
Task Force, Douglas County Sheriff, Colorado State Patrol, Denver PD, Westminster
PD, and Colorado Springs PD. Rotors has provided air support for the Jefferson
County District Attorney's Office, and trained with the Boulder County Drug
Task Force and Denver Joint Terrorism Task Force.
A Little Bit of Who We Are:
Here are a few pictures of work we've done: our own pilots, places we've actually been, flying helicopters we have experience with.
