CFI - CFII Rating Information
CFI INITIAL TRAINING:
PREREQUISITES: Must be at least 17 years old, be able to read, write, and
speak English.
Must have completed Commercial Rotorcraft rating in helicopters.
DEFINITION: A Certified Flight Instructor rating allows you to fly commercially and teach others to pilot rotorcraft. To obtain Initial CFI certification, you must first complete the Initial Commercial Rotorcraft course.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
A valid FAA Medical Certificate
Ground School or Home Study
Flight Training
FAA Practical Test: Oral, Written & Flight
FLIGHT TRAINING REQUIRED FOR INITIAL CFI COURSE :
Once you have completed the Commercial Rating, there are no set FAA minimum hours required to qualify for the additional CFI rating, however you must pass the FAA oral and practical test.
10-15 additional flight hours are necessary to gain proficiency on the advanced
maneuvers of the CFI practical test, and additional prep time for the CFI
& FOI written test.
